A Guide to Relocating Animals During a Move by Using Truck Rentals

It is not easy to move, it can become quite stressful. Having started the packing, it seems never ending, not to mention having to clean both places as you go. Not only this, but there are many who also have pets they need to worry about. It may seem daunting, moving your pets, along with everything else going on, but with a little planning, everything will fall into place. However, there are steps you can take to make the process go more smoothly.

The method in which you transport your pets during the move depends largely on how you’re conducting the rest of the move. Is there a moving company close by, or will you need to go online to find one? Will you be doing the move yourself with a van rental? By using a moving company, you will be able to concentrate on other aspects of the move, like your pets. Whether you decide to get a moving company, or do it yourself, your pets will need to have their needs seen to as well.

When possible, your pets should stay with you while you move. It is very dangerous to leave your pet unattended in the vehicle. Even if the temperature outside is comfortable to you, the temperature inside a car or truck can rise quickly and pose a lethal health hazard to your beloved animals. You may want to discuss carsickness with your veterinarian before you decide to move your pets. Talk to your vet about tranquilizers or sedatives if you are concerned about your pet becoming a danger to itself in its nervous state. If you want to help calm your animal, try talking to them and playing soft soothing music on the radio.

It goes without saying that sometimes frazzled pets will get sick in the vehicle, despite your best efforts to keep them calm and comfortable. Even if your pet is not known to get sick in the car, you will want to bring baggies and wipes just in case. Since not all truck rentals are the same, you will have to check with the company you have chosen.

By preparing ahead of time, you will be able to move your stuff and pets with little difficulty. Your local veterinarian can give you advice, and maybe recommend giving your pet a sedative, if they are too antsy. They know the best ways to keep everyone safe, calm and comfortable during the trip.
