Food Toys For Your Pet Bird
Birds love to have fun. Here are some creative ways to come up with fun food toys for your pet bird ...
Food should be fun and food toys for your pet bird can be easily made for them. It only takes a few minutes to create a food toy that your bird will love eating, tearing apart and generally having a great time with.
Small birds like cockatiels, budgies and even small conures love strung popcorn. Remove the popcorn to be strung before you add any salt and string it just as if you were going to place it on a Christmas tree but keep the string short. About six inches will provide fun for yours. These small birds also love breakfast cereal. Choose a cereal that is not too high in sugar and has a hole in the middle. Place a large plastic button on the end of a threat and then string the cereal. Intersperse pieces of popcorn or fruit if you desire.
Larger birds from the sun conure up to the biggest cockatoo or macaw will love a chicken bone as a toy. Do not, however, allow the bone to remain long enough to spoil or your bird might get sick. Just hand the bird the bone and watch them chew on it, break it open and eat the marrow inside. This is very healthy for the parrot as well.
Wrap a favorite nut or other well-loved treat in clean white paper as if you were wrapping a hard candy. Twist the ends tightly. Let the pet bird see you creating this food toy for pet birds so that it will know what is inside. Then place the nut on the bird's playground or cage. Then sit back and watch the bird shred the paper to get to the nut or treat inside.
Have fun and express some creativity in making food toys for pet birds. Your bird will love you for it!
